Ryan Jester

Ryan Jester is a self-taught painter from downtown Toronto. He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Business Degree, but later went on to explore his artistic side while attending the Advertising and Graphic Design program at Humber College. He has created a specific style coined ‘Abstract Cartoonism‘ to create acrylic paintings that resonates with his childhood.

Cartoons have been such a big part of his childhood; he tries to reimagine many of his favorite characters in new ways. His work focuses on creating eye-catching and provocative visuals, experimenting with bright colours, repetition, and juxtaposition. His work evokes nostalgic emotions within his audience — taking them back to the memories of Saturday morning cartoons. His compelling visual are bright, bold, and fun — the optimism of youth.
